Dr. George Jiao grew up in the greater Boston area before spending his high school years in the Capital District at Niskayuna High School. He earned his B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Boston University and went on to complete his M.D. at Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY. He then completed his ophthalmology residency at Northwell Eye Institute on Long Island, NY, where he served as Chief Resident, followed by a Vitreoretinal Surgery fellowship at Retina Consultants of Minnesota in Minneapolis—one of the highest-volume surgical training programs in the country.
Dr. Jiao is a board-certified retina specialist providing comprehensive medical and surgical care of the macula, retina, and vitreous. He is an active member of the American Society of Retina Specialists and the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and has contributed numerous peer-reviewed publications and presented his research at national and international conferences. Outside the office, he enjoys playing tennis, exploring great places to eat, and traveling with his wife.
